Teaching Spanish in Manta since 1996

Sur Pacífico Spanish School has been teaching on the Ecuadorian coast for close to thirty years, under the same direction the whole time. We are approved by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education.

The school is small on purpose. Groups stay small enough that you cannot hide in them, and you get the same teacher through your course rather than a rotation of them.

Manta helps. It is a port and a university city, not a resort, so the Spanish does not stop when class does. Students tell us the first few days are uncomfortable and that is exactly the point: by the second week you are ordering, arguing about the bus fare and making friends in Spanish.

Beyond the classroom we run courses that travel: kitesurfing on the coast through the windy season, a classroom that moves with you from the Pacific to the Andes to the Amazon, and placements with local organisations for students who want to work while they learn.
