Do I need to speak any Spanish before I arrive?
No. We teach every level from absolute beginner. You take a short placement conversation on your first morning and we put you in the right group from there.
When can I start?
Any Monday of the year. There is no set term and no intake date to wait for.
How many students are in a group?
Small groups, never more than a handful. If a level has only one student that week, it runs as a private course at the group rate for the hours we can cover.
How long should I stay?
Most students book two to four weeks. Two weeks moves you a level if you work; four weeks is where people start thinking in Spanish rather than translating. You can extend once you are here.
Where will I live?
We arrange it for you. A host family if you want the language all day, or an apartment if you want your own space. Tell us which when you apply.
Do I need a visa?
Most visitors, including citizens of the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and the rest of the EU, can enter Ecuador for 90 days without a visa. Check with your own consulate before booking flights, since rules change and yours may differ.
What does it cost?
It depends on the course and how many weeks you book. Send us your dates and we send you the exact figure, with nothing added later.
Can I combine Spanish with something else?
Yes, and most students do. Kitesurfing through the windy season, volunteering with a local organisation, yoga, cooking, or a classroom that travels with you across the country.
Is Manta safe?
Use the same judgement you would in any mid-sized city: taxis at night, nothing valuable on show at the beach. We brief every student when they arrive and our staff are reachable the whole time you are here.
What if I need to change my dates?
Tell us as early as you can and we move them. We would rather reschedule you than have you arrive at the wrong time.
